The wall that separates church from state, originally erected to protect the freedoms of the churches, now more than ever has to protect our freedoms from the churches.
We do not proselytize or look to convert anyone to atheism, that is a personal choice. Studies have shown that the more educated a person becomes, the less important religion is to them. They realize that you do not need a god, a promise of heaven or a threat of eternal damnation to do the right thing. Ethics are not the sole property of the religious. Once one realizes these simple truths and lives by the wonderful rule of "What you do not wish upon yourself, extend not to others." — Confucius (ca. 551–479 BCE), a burden is lifted and this one life becomes even more valuable. Work for the common good of mankind, leave valuable contributions to future generations and constantly seek truth and understanding.
